Memoryscape
Appa is a character from my favorite childhood TV show, Avatar: The Last Airbender. Making a 3D organic model of him made me nostalgic. Memoryscape explores this desire to revive past relics and escape into alternative realities.
Project type: 3D Animation Tools: Maya, Adobe Premiere, Substance Painter
Asset creation
I created the majority of the objects in this short using the box modeling technique. As always the hard surface models like the props in the living room scene came together rather quickly. The biggest challenge was creating the sky bison character. Sculpting and retopologizing came in handy here to clean up the geometry.

Scene creation
I think 3D software is one of the most powerful tools to have as an artist. You’re essentially playing God. You can try out different lights, camera angles, or entirely different actors in seconds, and for no extra cost. I still have a lot to learn, but this project gave me a much better sense of the 3D workflow, and I dabbled in everything from modeling to rigging to UV mapping, staging, and more.
